Image Editing with the iPad
The Apple IPad has become a fantastic tool for me on the road and has quickly replaced the need for a laptop. Coupled with the integration of social media apps, police and emergency services radio scanning tools and google maps, the iPad might be the best thing for photojournalists since the Nikon D1.
For on the go image editing there are really only two apps available at the moment that meet my needs; PhotoGene and Filterstorm. Both applications allow you to edit, colour correct, caption and transmit via email and FTP. Filterstorm has a dust cloning tool with PhotoGene tells me a similar feature will be available in their next update. There are some drawbacks. Most notably the output size restrictions, 18mb from Filterstorm and 20mb from PhotoGene.
